Greater Is He

Hi there my friends,

I wanted to start by saying thank you to all who prayed for my son’s wedding last weekend. It was an incredible event, and I sensed the Spirit of God all day. I am grateful for your love and support. May God always be present in all that we do and may we sense His love at all times.

I had a vivid dream this week.

It was about a husband and wife. While the husband was deeply in love with his wife, her love for him had grown cold and she was looking to have her relationship needs met elsewhere. She had met a man online and the two of them had grown close. Now it was time for her to meet him and, for whatever reason, her husband went along with her. His heart was broken, but he knew he couldn’t force her to do anything, especially love him back.

There were other guests at the meeting, and they were all amazed that he was so calm and accepting of the matter. In a moment of vulnerability and transparency, he made it very clear that he hated what was going on but that he loved his wife and would journey with her for as long as he could.

He was kind and meek throughout the meeting. The wife, after meeting the other man face to face, realized that she wasn’t as interested in him as she hoped and wanted to leave. Her husband agreed to take her home. The other man was rich and powerful and was going to get his revenge for her rejection. He had contacts and systems in place that would put her life in danger. Her husband was aware of those plans, and she narrowly escaped death.

                Then I woke up.

It was a disturbing dream. I felt deeply affected by it. Immediately, I sensed that it was more than just another dream. I felt God whisper into my heart that this is how the church can treat Him. We are called the bride of Christ. Each and every one of us is part of that relationship. While His love for us is deep and strong, our love for Him can grow cold. We can seek to meet our deepest needs elsewhere.

So, we give in to sin, to distraction, to money, to the desire for other things and we even invite Jesus to come along as we go. He comes with us even though His heart is breaking. He knows that He will never force us to love Him back; love only counts when it is freely given.  But He will still show His kindness and gentleness and patience, hoping that we will see that His love is the best thing for us and the only thing we really need.

I hate it when I am like that wandering wife. I want to be faithful and devoted to Jesus as He is to me. I want that for you as well. There is no life apart from Christ, my friends. Don’t buy into the lie that the enemy has better things to offer you. He is a master liar and deceiver, and he will get angry when we reject him.  Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. Jesus can protect us from all the devil’s wicked attempts at revenge, but we must stay close to our Saviour.

I feel an urgency to communicate this message today. I don’t know who exactly this is for (besides me), but if it is for you, do not hesitate to repent. Turn your heart back toward the lover and creator of your soul.

I love you guys and want to see Christ glorified in your lives.

This weekend, we will be starting a new series called “Equipped”. It will be a six-part series focusing on the Armor of God found in Ephesians 6. Pastor Michael will be kicking the series off and I am looking forward to being there. Hope you can connect in too.

God bless you and have a great weekend.

                I love being your pastor.
