You Are Deeply Loved By God

Hi my friends,

            Hope you are having a great week. My focus and attention this week has been on my son’s wedding this weekend in our yard. We are praying for sun but preparing for rain!  I am so proud of the man he is and of the woman he gets to marry. Our family is rich and becoming richer all the time and I give thanks to God for His blessings!

            In the first chapter of the gospel of John, Jesus is beginning to put together His disciple team. He collects Andrew and Peter and then Philip and Nathanael. Nathanael’s intro to Jesus is pretty cool. Here’s what it says in John 1:43-49

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, “Follow me.”

Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida. Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?” Nathanael asked.

“Come and see,” said Philip.

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.”

“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.

Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.”

            I love it that Jesus saw Nathanael even though Nathanael had no clue. In fact, it was that miracle that won Nathanael over to Jesus.

            It is a constant reminder to me that we are seen by God. He knows where you are and what is going on in your life even if you think you are alone. Of course, there is one application to this that we must be very conscientious of how we live, but it is also a great assurance that we are not lost nor forgotten by Jesus.

            He sees you.

            Psalm 139 says,

Where can I go from your Spirit?
    Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
    if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
    if I settle on the far side of the sea,
 even there your hand will guide me,
    your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
    and the light become night around me,”
 even the darkness will not be dark to you;
    the night will shine like the day,
    for darkness is as light to you.

            You can be confident that you are never alone and that you are deeply loved by God.

            This weekend, Pastor Dallas will be speaking on the second part of our unity series called, “One”. His topic will be how the unity of believers witnesses to the world.

            I hope you can connect this weekend.

            May God richly bless you as you continue to follow Him.

            I love being your pastor.
