God At Work Through ACC

Hi there my friends,

It’s good to be able to write to you, to think about you and to pray for you. God is on the move, and I can feel the effects of that. The wind of the Spirit is blowing and I can see the trees stirring.

We’ve had some really great people share in our journey recently. Just over a week ago, Richard Blackaby and Rick Fisher were here. They shared powerfully about how relying on the Holy Spirit will yield a life that is meaningful, effective, and exciting. Richard shared from Mark 4 about the time when Jesus calmed the storm. What was so incredible about this miracle was that it was Jesus who led the disciples into the storm. Sometimes we can think that if things start going south then it must mean we are not following Jesus. But this passage shows that Jesus actually brought the disciples into the storm and then proved to them that no storm was too big for Him to handle. Great word!

This week, my friend Geoff Heth, met with our Room to Grow land use team as well as our staff team. He encouraged our faith by reminding us that when we leverage what we have to help the poor, God will work in and through us in spectacular ways. He shared about the parable of the shrewd manager who used worldly wealth to influence people. The application is that we should use another’s property and wealth (in our case, God’s property and wealth that He has entrusted to us) to bless and influence people so that they will give their lives to Jesus. We could spend all our money on ourselves, but that is not what Jesus invites us into. He wants us to be shrewd and to think of creative ways that we can bless those who are currently far from Jesus and/or are in destitute situations.

In the middle of all of this we have been celebrating the first-year anniversary of our Room to Grow campaign (If you missed last week’s sermon, I would strongly encourage you to listen to it this week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHsrDLzOfYY). Something extraordinary is in the works. God is going to use this land opportunity to do immeasurably more than all we could ask or imagine. He is going to shine His glorious presence in and through us to be a blessing to Sylvan Lake.

I don’t know what it is all going to look like, but I do know that it is going to be fantastic. Thank you for allowing me to join you on this journey. I love being your pastor and serving you here for this season.  I am very grateful for you.

This weekend I will be kicking off a two-part series on Unity.  Hope you can join us and hope you have a great long weekend.
